Seawalls & Shoreline Construction

Shoreline erosion, unstable banks and failing retaining structures are common problems on Pacific Northwest waterfront properties. Heavy Metal Dock & Marine Construction handles seawall construction, shoreline stabilization, cable bolting and marine excavation as part of complete waterfront construction projects — from the shoreline out to the finished dock.

Protecting Your Waterfront Property

Shoreline erosion is a gradual process that can accelerate quickly under the right conditions — wave action, boat wakes, seasonal water-level changes and saturated soils all contribute to bank instability. Left unaddressed, a failing shoreline can undermine structures, damage property and make a waterfront unusable.

Seawall Construction

Seawalls are structural retaining systems built at the water's edge to hold back the bank and resist the forces of wave action and water pressure. Heavy Metal constructs seawalls as part of complete waterfront projects, often in combination with dock construction, pile driving and shoreline grading.

Shoreline Stabilization & Cable Bolting

Not every shoreline problem requires a full seawall. In some situations, cable bolting — a technique that anchors unstable rock or soil to the underlying structure — is a more appropriate solution. Heavy Metal has experience with structural cable bolting as a shoreline stabilization method for sites where the bank material and conditions make it the right approach.

Marine Excavation

Many shoreline construction projects require excavation — reshaping the bank, removing material, creating level areas for structures or preparing the site for a seawall or dock foundation. Heavy Metal handles marine excavation as part of complete waterfront construction projects.

Complete Waterfront Construction

One of the advantages of working with Heavy Metal is that shoreline work, pile driving and dock construction are all handled by the same company. When a project requires seawall construction, excavation, pile driving and a new dock, we manage the full scope rather than requiring you to coordinate multiple contractors.
