Covered Docks & Canopies
Heavy Metal Dock & Marine Construction designs and builds custom covered dock structures and canopies for residential and commercial waterfront properties throughout Washington, Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. Covered structures protect vessels and extend the usable life of dock equipment in the Pacific Northwest's wet climate.
Custom Fabrication
Covered dock structures are fabricated in-house using aluminum and steel. Because we build our own components, we can design a canopy or covered structure to fit the specific geometry of your dock and shoreline — not a standard kit that may or may not work for your site.
Design Considerations
A covered dock structure needs to account for the dock's existing framing, the height and beam of the vessels being sheltered, wind and snow loads for the site's location, and any applicable permit requirements. We work through these considerations as part of the project design.
Materials
We fabricate canopy frames from aluminum or steel depending on the application. Aluminum is lighter and corrosion-resistant — a good choice for most residential covered dock applications. Steel is used where additional structural capacity is needed. Roofing and cladding materials are selected based on the project requirements.
